About the Role
- We’re looking for a Senior Financial Accountant to join our Finance team. This role is critical to maintaining strong financial governance, ensuring accuracy in financial reporting, and supporting strategic decision-making at Rise. You’ll work closely with the CFO and other senior leaders to ensure financial integrity, compliance, and performance visibility across the business.
What You’ll Do
Financial Reporting, Control & Audit
- Prepare monthly and quarterly performance and financial reports for internal and external stakeholders, including the CFO and the Board.
- Maintain the integrity, completeness, and accuracy of the general ledger and financial statements.
- Review, post, and approve monthly journal entries, reconciliations, and adjusting entries.
- Track and report on key business and financial performance metrics, providing insights and recommendations.
- Manage cash flow, working capital, and liquidity planning.
- Support the CFO in preparing board-level and regulatory reports (SEC, NGX, and other authorities).
- Liaise with auditors during annual and interim audits, preparing schedules and supporting documentation.
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and cost optimization initiatives across departments.
- Supervise and mentor junior accounting staff, fostering a culture of accuracy and accountability.
Tax & Compliance
- Oversee all tax engagements, filings, and audits (PAYE, VAT, WHT, Company Income Tax, etc.).
- Advise on the tax implications of business transactions and ensure full compliance with all statutory tax requirements.
- Liaise with external tax consultants, auditors, and regulators to ensure compliance and risk mitigation.
- Ensure timely remittance of all statutory obligations (pensions, NHF, ITF, NSITF, etc.).
Governance, Process & Advisory
- Strengthen internal financial controls, approval workflows, and documentation standards.
- Provide strategic financial insights to guide investment and business decisions.
- Support system improvements and ERP integration for more efficient financial management.
- Undertake other responsibilities as assigned by the CFO.
What We’re Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Professional qualification (ACA, ACCA, ICAN) is required.
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive finance experience, including at least 2 years in a mid-management role.
- Proven experience in financial reporting for regulated entities (SEC, NGX, or equivalent).
- Prior experience in fund management, asset management, or brokerage is strongly preferred.
- Proficiency in accounting software (QuickBooks, Xero, or equivalent) and ERPs.
- Excellent attention to detail, analytical skills, and integrity.
