Summary of Job Function
- The Maintenance Engineer is responsible for ensuring the optimal performance, reliability, and safety of Sunhive’s solar power installations in the post-construction phase.
- This includes carrying out preventive and corrective maintenance, system monitoring, troubleshooting, and ensuring compliance with operational standards.
- The role also supports the delivery of long-term asset performance objectives through proactive maintenance and client interface management.
Responsibilities
Operations and Maintenance:
- Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance on solar PV systems to ensure continuous optimal performance.
- Diagnose and repair faults on inverters, PV modules, cabling, and electrical components.
- Perform system performance analysis, monitoring, and reporting through remote and field tools.
- Manage spare parts inventory and ensure timely replacement of defective components.
- Ensure all maintenance activities adhere to HSE standards and company procedures.
- Support energy audits and efficiency assessments for existing solar installations.
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests, equipment alarms, and emergencies.
- Supervise site technicians and contractors performing maintenance activities.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities, inspection logs, and service reports.
- Track system performance metrics and prepare periodic performance summaries.
- Develop maintenance schedules, checklists, and update asset registers.
- Document root cause analyses for failures and recommend corrective actions.
- Ensure proper documentation of safety permits, risk assessments, and work orders.
Communication and Collaboration:
- Work closely with the Engineering, Operations, and Health & Safety teams to maintain operational excellence.
- Provide technical feedback to the design team to support continuous improvement in system performance.
- Communicate clearly with clients, site operators, and internal stakeholders on maintenance activities.
- Participate in regular team meetings, site reviews, and training sessions.
- Support the achievement of the Company’s Quality Management System (QMS) objectives.
Minimum Educational Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree or HND in Electrical Engineering.
Minimum Previous Experience:
- 2–4 years of experience in solar PV operations, maintenance, or electrical systems.
- Hands-on experience with inverter maintenance, system monitoring platforms, and field troubleshooting.
- Experience working in a field-based or supervisory role is an advantage.
Other Skills:
- Strong analytical and diagnostic skills.
- Proficiency with data logging and monitoring software (e.g., Fronius, SMA, etc.).
- Competent use of Google Suite.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work independently under minimal supervision.
