Job Objectives
- The Structural Engineer will design, analyze, and oversee the structural integrity of buildings and infrastructure within the company’s real estate projects.
- This role is responsible for ensuring that all structures are safe, durable, and compliant with relevant codes, standards, and regulatory requirements.
- The Structural Engineer will collaborate with architects, civil engineers, project managers, and construction teams to translate design concepts into practical, buildable, and cost-effective structural solutions.
Roles and Responsibilities
Structural Design and Analysis:
- Design and analyze structural systems for residential, commercial, and infrastructure projects.
- Develop detailed structural drawings, calculations, and engineering reports.
- Select appropriate construction materials and structural systems to optimize performance and cost.
- Review and validate third-party design submissions and structural documentation.
Construction Supervision:
- Conduct regular site inspections to ensure construction aligns with approved structural drawings and specifications.
- Review and approve material specifications, reinforcement details, and construction methodologies.
- Identify and resolve on-site structural challenges, providing timely engineering solutions.
- Ensure quality control and adherence to design intent during all stages of construction.
Coordination and Compliance:
- Collaborate closely with architects, mechanical and electrical (M&E) engineers, and project managers to ensure seamless integration of designs.
- Ensure all designs and construction activities comply with relevant building codes, safety regulations, and industry standards.
- Liaise with local authorities and regulatory agencies to secure necessary approvals and certifications.
- Maintain proper documentation for design changes, approvals, and technical correspondence.
Innovation and Continuous Improvement:
- Research and implement new structural materials, technologies, and sustainable design practices.
- Contribute to value engineering efforts to improve structural efficiency without compromising quality or safety.
- Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance to design and construction teams.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
- Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience in building design and supervision.
- COREN registration is an advantage.
Working knowledge, skills and competencies and attributes:
- Strong understanding of structural design software (STAAD Pro, ETABS, etc.).
- Knowledge of Nigerian building codes and international standards.
- Excellent analytical and mathematical abilities.
- Strong attention to detail and teamwork skills.
