Job Description
The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) serves as a key strategic partner to the Chief Executive Officer and the Board of Directors, providing leadership and direction for all financial aspects of the organization. The role is responsible for driving financial performance, ensuring robust financial controls, supporting business growth, and sustaining long-term organizational stability.
The CFO will oversee financial planning, budgeting, accounting, reporting, treasury, taxation, and compliance, while providing strategic insights and risk management guidance to support informed decision-making and organizational efficiency.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategic Leadership
- Provide strategic financial leadership and contribute to the overall business strategy and growth objectives.
- Partner with executive management to identify business opportunities, assess financial risks, and drive sustainable profitability.
- Support long-term financial forecasting, capital structure optimization, and investment strategy.
Financial Management & Reporting
- Oversee the preparation of accurate and timely financial statements in compliance with IFRS and other applicable standards.
- Ensure effective internal controls, accounting policies, and compliance frameworks are in place and maintained.
- Manage the budgeting and forecasting process, including variance analysis and performance reporting.
- Present financial performance reports and recommendations to the CEO, Board, and relevant committees.
Treasury & Risk Management
- Oversee cash flow management, working capital optimization, and liquidity planning.
- Develop and implement strategies for managing financial risks, including foreign exchange, credit, and market exposure.
- Maintain effective relationships with financial institutions, investors, auditors, and regulatory authorities.
Corporate Governance & Compliance
- Ensure full compliance with statutory requirements, tax obligations, and corporate governance principles.
- Supervise internal and external audit processes, ensuring accountability and transparency.
- Provide leadership in developing and maintaining a culture of financial integrity and ethical practice across the organization.
Team Leadership
- Lead, mentor, and develop the Finance team to achieve high performance and professional growth.
- Foster collaboration across departments to ensure alignment between financial goals and business operations
Academic Qualification
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related discipline.
- A master’s degree in finance, Business Administration, or related field is an advantage.
- A fellow /Associate member in a professional qualification such as ACA, ACCA, CFA, CISA or equivalent is required.
- Minimum of 12–15 years of progressive experience in finance and accounting, with at least 5 years in a CFO capacity.
