Position Overview:
- The Managing Director (MD) will lead the operations, strategic direction, and growth of the midstream business centered on the development of a small-scale LNG Project. The MD will work closely with senior leadership, customers, and regulatory bodies to ensure operational excellence, safety compliance, and sustainable growth while optimizing financial performance.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership:
- Develop and implement the company’s strategic vision, ensuring alignment with the overall business goals and objectives.
- Provide leadership in the development of long-term business plans, capital investments, and expansion projects within the midstream sector.
- Drive the company’s market position and competitive advantage by identifying new business opportunities and managing existing client relationships.
Financial Management:
- Manage the company’s financial performance, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
- Optimize capital expenditures, manage cost controls, and maximize revenue streams while ensuring profitability and growth.
- Provide timely and accurate financial analysis and reporting to the Board of Directors.
Risk Management and Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with all local, regional, and international regulatory standards governing midstream oil and gas operations, including environmental regulations, safety protocols, and industry best practices.
- Develop and maintain risk management strategies to mitigate operational, financial, and reputational risks.
- Lead the company’s safety culture by enforcing and promoting a zero-incident safety program.
Stakeholder Management:
- Maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including customers, government agencies, regulators, and joint venture partners.
- Represent the company in industry forums, conferences, and with governmental bodies.
- Ensure effective communication between internal departments, clients, and external stakeholders.
Team Leadership and Development:
- Lead, inspire, and manage the senior leadership team and other key personnel within the company.
- Foster a positive, collaborative culture that emphasizes high performance, accountability, and employee development.
- Oversee talent recruitment, training, and succession planning for all operational and executive roles.
Qualifications:
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Chemical, Mechanical, Petroleum, and Production), Financing, Business Administration, or a related field. Upper Second class or higher.
- An MBA or relevant advanced degree is preferred.
Experience:
- Minimum of 15-20 years of experience in the oil and gas industry, with a focus on midstream operations (gas processing, storage, transportation).
- At least 5 years of experience in a senior leadership or executive role, preferably as a Managing Director, VP, or General Manager within the oil and gas midstream sector.
- Proven track record of managing large, complex operations and delivering financial and operational results.
Skills:
- Strong leadership, strategic thinking, and decision-making capabilities.
- In-depth understanding of midstream operations, including marketing, commercial agreements, transportation, storage, logistics, and infrastructure management.
- A good gas processing technical (engineering/design) and project management knowledge will be an added advantage.
- Deep knowledge of regulatory frameworks, health and safety standards, and environmental compliance within the oil and gas industry.
- Strong financial acumen, including experience in economic and financial modeling, budgeting, forecasting, and P&L management.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage stakeholder relationships and work effectively with government agencies, regulatory bodies, and joint venture partners.
- Ability to work in a small company through early phase development.
