Job Purpose




  • This role supervises tax-related activities of the company, ensuring compliance with Nigerian tax laws and regulations.

  • This role involves managing tax audits, ensuring timely and accurate preparation and filling of all statutory tax returns and optimizing tax processes to minimize liabilities and support business growth.



Responsibilities

Tax Compliance & Reporting:




  • Ensure timely and accurate preparation and filing of all statutory tax returns (CIT, VAT, WHT, PAYE, etc.).

  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of Nigerian tax laws and regulations and ensure company compliance.

  • Spearhead and handle tax audits systematically, respond and close issues from tax audit in a timely manner.

  • Liaise with tax authorities and external consultants on audits, assessments, and inquiries.

  • Manage tax computations and reconciliations for monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting.

  • Monitor changes in tax legislation and assess their impact on the business.



Process & Risk Management:




  • Establish and maintain robust tax documentation and record-keeping systems.

  • Conduct periodic internal tax reviews and risk assessments.

  • Ensure timely remittance of tax liabilities and collection of tax clearance certificates.

  • Identify and implement tax-saving opportunities contributing to measurable cost reductions.



Team Collaboration:




  • Mentor junior tax staff, providing guidance and performance feedback.

  • Collaborate with finance, legal, and operations teams to ensure tax considerations are integrated into business decisions.



Qualifications & Experience




  • Bachelor's Degree or Higher National Diploma (HND) in Accounting, Finance or any other related discipline

  • 7-10 years’ experience

  • Membership of ICAN, ACCA, or CITN

  • Understanding of Nigerian tax laws and regulatory frameworks

  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and ERP systems

  • Experience with tax audits, FIRS and state tax authorities.

  • Proficiency in robust and well-known ERP systems and tax software is an advantage

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
