Salary: NGN 500,000



Our client is seeking a highly skilled Senior Accountant to oversee and manage core accounting and financial operations across the organization. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, analytical, and experienced in maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance, and supporting strategic financial decisions. This is a key role requiring strong technical expertise and hands-on experience in accounting and financial reporting.



Key Responsibilities




  • Oversee daily accounting operations, including accounts payables, receivables, general ledger updates, and bank reconciliations.

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all financial transactions in line with accounting standards.

  • Review and post sales invoices, receipts, supplier invoices, payments, and intercompany/interbank transactions.

  • Manage petty cash and fuel card transactions, ensuring proper documentation and controls.

  • Monitor cash flow and daily inflows to ensure adequate liquidity for operational needs.

  • Ensure proper cash handling procedures and support periodic cash audits across branches.

  • Implement and maintain strong internal control systems and financial policies.

  • Reconcile HMOs, suppliers/vendors, and other client accounts regularly.

  • Maintain and update the Fixed Assets Register.

  • Ensure compliance with tax regulations and all statutory requirements.

  • Oversee costing activities, including inventory landing costs and product pricing monitoring.

  • Manage credit control processes to reduce bad debts and overdue receivables.

  • Oversee payroll processing, contract wages, statutory deductions, and staff claims.

  • Support month-end and year-end closing processes and prepare management reports.

  • Prepare financial reports including sales analysis, payables, receivables, product count reports, intercompany reports, and petty cash reports.

  • Maintain strong relationships with financial institutions and support loan processing when required.

  • Undertake any additional tasks assigned by management.



Requirements




  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

  • Professional certification (ICAN, ACCA, or equivalent) is mandatory.

  • 5–7 years of progressive accounting or finance experience, preferably in retail or a similar industry.

  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting standards, and tax regulations.

  • Proficient in accounting software (Sage, QuickBooks, ERP systems) and advanced MS Excel.

  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

  • High level of integrity, attention to detail, and confidentiality.

  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.

  • Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple priorities, and operate with minimal supervision.
