Position Summary

  • We are seeking a detail-oriented, proactive, and experienced Senior Accountant to manage and maintain our financial operations using QuickBooks Online.

  • The ideal candidate must have a strong background in accounting within the offshore oil & gas industry, including understanding of project-based financial tracking, vendor payments, multi-currency transactions, and compliance with both Nigerian and international accounting standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain the company’s accounting system using QuickBooks Online with full responsibility for general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, bank reconciliations, and journal entries.

  • Implement and manage project-based accounting practices to track revenues, costs, and profitability of each offshore and marine services project.

  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including Profit & Loss, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow reports.

  • Coordinate project billing, client invoicing, and vendor payments in accordance with project execution and contractual milestones.

  • Manage inter-company transactions and multi-currency accounts (USD, NGN, EUR).

  • Monitor project budgets vs actuals, and highlight any variances or risks to the management team.

  • Ensure compliance with all local tax regulations (e.g. VAT, WHT, PAYE), and assist with filing returns and working with auditors and tax authorities.

  • Support the implementation and refinement of cost control and budgeting procedures aligned with the company’s offshore operations.

  • Liaise with project managers, procurement officers, and operations leads to ensure accurate financial tracking and cost allocation.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline; professional certifications such as ACA, ACCA, or CPA preferred.

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in accounting, with at least 3 years in the offshore oil & gas or marine logistics sector.

  • Demonstrated expertise in QuickBooks Online – including setup, customization, and advanced reporting.

Familiarity:

  • With offshore contracting, project-based financials, vessel accounting, and work package billing is highly desirable.

  • Strong knowledge of Nigerian tax codes, statutory reporting, and compliance requirements.

  • High proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Office applications.

  • Experience coordinating with external auditors and preparing audit-ready financial records.

  • Excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently under tight deadlines.

Preferred Attributes:

  • Experience working in a fast-paced, high-growth environment, preferably in a project-oriented offshore or engineering services firm.

  • Understanding of vessel cost accounting, CAPEX/OPEX structuring, and financing models is a strong advantage.

  • Ability to adapt QuickBooks to manage complex project needs such as timesheet integration, milestone billing, and cost-center reporting.
