The Sales & Business Development Manager is responsible for driving revenue growth by identifying new business opportunities, building and maintaining strong client relationships, overseeing the full sales cycle and developing strategies to increase market share within the industry.
Responsibilities
Identify and pursue new business opportunities to drive company growth.
Conduct market and competitor research to support strategic decision-making.
Generate and manage qualified leads while maintaining an active sales pipeline.
Prepare and deliver proposals, quotations, and sales presentations to prospective clients.
Manage the entire sales cycle from prospecting to negotiation and closing.
Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, partners, and stakeholders.
Follow up on leads, schedule meetings, and document all business development activities.
Track and report on performance of business development initiatives and recommend improvements.
Support contract negotiations and ensure timely delivery on client commitments.
Collaborate with internal teams to align solutions with client needs.
Represent the company at meetings, events, and networking engagements.
Prepare weekly and monthly business development reports for management.
Requirement
First Degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Communications, or related fields (Master’s degree or professional certification is an added advantage).
7 – 10 years experience in sales within the food, hospitality, FMCG, or meat processing industry.
Minimum of 2 years in a managerial sales role.
Strong understanding of the Nigerian market, sales dynamics, and industry trends.
Proven experience in sales research, pipeline management, and converting data into actionable insights.
Strong network and relationship-management skills with established industry contacts.
Consistent track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets.
Excellent verbal and written communication, active listening, and presentation abilities.
Ability to quickly build rapport and maintain professional client relationships.
Strong analytical skills with experience in market research, sales analysis, and competitor assessment.
Familiarity with sales measurement tools and go-to-market strategies.
Strong negotiation, persuasion, objection-handling, and closing skills.
Self-driven, results-oriented, highly organized, and able to manage time effectively.
High sense of initiative, accountability, and professional work ethic.
