Job Summary




  • The Cashier is responsible for handling all customer transactions, maintaining accurate cash records, and ensuring smooth financial operations at the point of sale.

  • The role requires accuracy, integrity, strong customer service skills, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced restaurant environment.

  • The Cashier is the first point of contact for many customers and plays a key role in creating a positive dining experience.



Key Responsibilities




  • Receive customer payments in cash, POS, or bank transfers.

  • Issue receipts, process refunds, and manage change accurately.

  • Confirm payment completion before orders are released to customers.

  • Reconcile daily cash collections and prepare daily sales reports.

  • Maintain accurate records of all transactions, sales, and daily income.

  • Submit end-of-shift cash counts and POS summaries to the manager or accountant.

  • Report discrepancies, payment issues, or suspicious transactions immediately.

  • Update order logs, customer receipts, and financial documentation as required.

  • Operate the Point-of-Sale (POS) system efficiently.

  • Ensure all menu items, prices, and discounts are correctly entered.

  • Assist with updating POS items or reporting system errors to management.

  • Confirm that online orders and delivery platform payments are accurately recorded.

  • Follow all cash management policies and internal control procedures.

  • Safeguard the cash drawer and ensure no unauthorised access.

  • Prevent shortfalls by maintaining accuracy and double-checking entries.



Qualifications & Requirements




  • SSCE / OND qualification required; higher qualifications are an added advantage.

  • 1 - 2 years of experience as a Cashier, preferably in a restaurant or retail environment.

  • Strong numeric and analytical skills.

  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.

  • High level of integrity, honesty, and trustworthiness.

  • Ability to work under pressure and handle high-volume transactions.

  • Smart appearance, good grooming, and professionalism.



Working Hours:




  • Shift-based schedule depending on restaurant operations.

  • Must be available during weekends, evenings, and public holidays.



Reporting Line:




  • Reports directly to the Restaurant Manager, Shift Supervisor, or Accountant (as applicable).



Salary & Benefits




  • Salary: N60,000 / Month.

  • Additional benefits may include staff meals, bonuses, or overtime (depending on company policy).
