Job Summary
- The Kitchen Assistant supports daily kitchen operations by assisting with food preparation, maintaining hygiene standards, handling basic tasks, and ensuring overall kitchen efficiency.
- The role requires a high level of teamwork, attention to detail, and compliance with health and safety procedures.
- The Kitchen Assistant plays a crucial role in delivering high-quality meals and maintaining a smooth kitchen workflow.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in washing, peeling, cutting, and portioning ingredients.
- Support chefs in preparing meal components as directed.
- Help with plating and packaging meals for dine-in, takeout, or delivery.
- Set up and clean preparation areas before and after shifts.
- Set up workstations with required ingredients and equipment.
- Report low stock, expired products, or damaged equipment to the supervisor.
- Ensure all kitchen tools and surfaces are properly sanitized.
- Wash dishes, utensils, pots, pans, and cooking equipment.
- Maintain the cleanliness of the kitchen, sinks, preparation surfaces, and storage areas.
- Dispose of waste properly and follow recycling procedures where applicable.
- Comply with all food safety and hygiene regulations
- Follow established safety procedures at all times.
- Wear appropriate protective clothing and kitchen attire.
Qualifications & Requirements
- SSCE or OND qualification preferred.
- Experience as a Kitchen Assistant or in a food service environment is an added advantage.
- Ability to multitask, work under pressure, and follow instructions.
- Basic understanding of food hygiene and safety practices.
- Strong teamwork, communication skills, and physical stamina to stand for long hours.
Working Hours:
- Shift-based schedule depending on restaurant operations. Weekend, evening, and holiday availability may be required.
Salary & Benefits
- Salary: N60,000 per month.
- Additional benefits may include staff meals and overtime.
