Job Summary
- The Agronomist is responsible for providing technical expertise and support in crop production, soil management, and sustainable agricultural practices.
- The role involves conducting field trials, analyzing data, advising farmers on best practices, and improving crop yield and quality.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess and monitor soil health, fertility, and crop performance.
- Develop and implement effective planting, irrigation, fertilization, and pest control strategies.
- Conduct field research and trials to improve crop production techniques.
- Advise on the selection of seeds, fertilizers, and pesticides suitable for specific soil and climatic conditions.
- Monitor crop progress and diagnose plant diseases, pests, and nutrient deficiencies.
- Stay updated on agricultural technologies, practices, and regulations.
- Collaborate with farm staff, agricultural engineers, and researchers.
- Prepare technical reports, recommendations, and presentations.
- Ensure compliance with environmental and safety standards.
- Train farmers and farm workers on modern agronomic practices.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Agronomy, Agriculture, Crop Science, or related field (Master’s degree is an advantage).
- Proven experience in agronomy, crop production, or agricultural consulting.
- Knowledge of soil science, pest control, irrigation, and crop nutrition.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and in remote field conditions.
Salary
N200,000 - N250,000 Monthly.
