Job Summary




  • The Quality Control Officer is responsible for ensuring that food products meet required quality, safety, and regulatory standards throughout the production process.

  • The role involves monitoring raw materials, in-process activities, and finished products to ensure compliance with food safety regulations and company quality standards.



Key Responsibilities




  • Inspect and test raw materials, in-process products, and finished goods to ensure quality and safety standards are met.

  • Monitor production processes to ensure compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).

  • Conduct routine quality checks, sampling, and laboratory analysis.

  • Ensure compliance with food safety standards such as HACCP, ISO 22000, and relevant regulatory requirements.

  • Identify quality deviations and initiate corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).

  • Maintain accurate quality control records, reports, and documentation.

  • Support internal and external audits (NAFDAC, SON, ISO, etc.).

  • Train production staff on quality, hygiene, and food safety practices.

  • Monitor sanitation, hygiene, and environmental conditions within the facility.

  • Report non-conformities and recommend improvements to production processes.

  • Ensure proper labeling, packaging, and storage of food products.



Requirements




  • B.Sc Degree / HND qualification in Food Science & Technology, Microbiology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related field.

  • 3 - 5 years experience in a quality control role within the food industry.

  • Strong knowledge of food safety standards (GMP, HACCP, ISO).

  • Familiarity with regulatory agencies and inspections (e.g., NAFDAC, SON).

  • Good analytical, documentation, and report-writing skills.

  • Attention to detail and strong problem-solving abilities.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment.
