ROLE DESCRIPTION
- The Head of Supply Chain is responsible for developing and executing the supply chain strategy to support operational efficiency, cost management, and service excellence across the airline and AMO.
- This includes procurement, inventory management, logistics, vendor management, and compliance.
- This role ensures the uninterrupted availability of aircraft parts, materials, tools and equipment and other essential services to support the aircraft maintenance, repair and overhaul activities.
- The ideal candidate will have deep knowledge of aviation supply chains, strong leadership skills, and experience in regulatory compliance (EASA, FAA, etc.).
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop and implement strategies that will enable to improve tactical and operational services and to attain cost savings.
- Lead and manage cross-functional teams across procurement, warehousing, logistics, inventory and contracts.
- Manage strategic sourcing and contract negotiations with OEMs, MROs, and other critical suppliers.
- Establish long-term supplier relationships and service-level agreements (SLAs).
- Monitor supplier performance, compliance, and risk management.
- Oversee inventory planning and control for aircraft parts, components, consumables, and ground support equipment.
- Ensure timely availability of materials to avoid AOG (Aircraft on Ground) scenarios.
- Optimize logistics, distribution networks, and just-in-time delivery models.
- Ensure compliance with customs regulations, hazardous goods handling, and trade controls.
- Ensure proper warehousing and logistics management.
- Conduct market research for strategic sourcing and supplier relationship management.
- Coordinate and handle high level negotiation when required.
- Monitor industry trends and innovations to keep the airline supply chain competitive and resilient.
- Collaborate with Quality Assurance to manage non-conformances and material recalls.
- Ensure robust record-keeping and traceability of all materials and components.
- Making sure that all activities have been handled based on policy and procedures in consideration with long term objectives.
- Facilitate coaching and mentoring program within the department and participate and process improvement projects.
- Ensures the consistent implementation of quality, safety and security policy and procedures.
- Develop and control the annual budget for the Supply Chain Unit.
- Undertake such other duties as may be reasonably requested by the Technical Director.
EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION/EXPERIENCE/KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS
- Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, Logistics, Engineering, Business Administration, or related field (MA/MSc preferred).
- At least 10 years of experience within the aviation Technical Procurement and Supply Chain departments, and 5+ years in a leadership role.
- Deep understanding of aviation supply chain standards, aviation maintenance procedures (e.g MRO), and regulatory compliance.
- Proficiency in computer applications and ERP/MRO systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, AMOS)
