Job Description
Responsibilities
- Enforce company policies, lead the I&C engineers to use of work practices, guidelines, relevant codes, recommended practices, regulatory and project standards to attain proficiency in the design development.
- Design advanced process control and instrumentation, safety and integrated communications system deliverables, specify DCS, ESD, Fire Systems, analysers, networks and define interface requirements.
- Provide procurement support by preparing Requisitions, Technical Bid Evaluations and reviewing vendor documentation for compliance and sub-contract approval.
- Supervise development of design deliverables including control philosophy, system architecture, layout & functional specification system load calculations, cause & effect logic, SIL determination
- Ensure discipline scope of work is executed in coordination with other disciplines and completed satisfactorily within scope, quality, schedule and budget, defined by the Project Management Plan
- Provide technical direction and coordination for instruments personnel under direct supervision by reviewing deliverables to ensure conformance to engineering quality & technical accuracy. Promote and maintain standards & procedures to improve discipline group working practices.
- Supervise scope and schedule changes in accordance with the change control process utilizing the tools and mechanisms provided by both Quality and Enterprise Management Systems
- Observe personal safe working practices and understand the importance of HSE in design with an awareness of Corporate Occupational Health & Safety Procedures
- Other task as assigned by supervisor.
Requirements
Education – Qualifications, Accreditation, Training:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical, Electrical / Electronics or Computer Engineering OR Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Physics and Distinctions in GCE ‘O’ Level in English, Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics and/or Further/ Additional Mathematics.

Job Specific Knowledge:
- Advanced knowledge and understanding of fundamentals of process control, Instrumentation design and analysis, hydraulic, pneumatic, hydro-pneumatic, electro-pneumatic, electrical relay and modern programmable electronic control systems, intrinsic safety, Industry Codes and Standards.
- Experienced in the specification, evaluation and documentation of electronic / pneumatic field instrumentation, control and communication network protocols
- Familiarity with originating, reviewing and checking documentation for technical accuracy, precision and consistency including Architectural, ESD Logic, Hook-Up and Termination Diagrams, Schematics, Loops, Cause & Effect / SAFE, Charts, Equipment Layouts, Cable Schedules, Indexes, MTO, I/O Lists, Datasheets, Control Philosophies and Specs.
Industry Specific Experience:
- 12 years post qualification experience as a discipline engineer in the oil & gas industry with not less than 3 years offshore field experience inclusive.
HSE Capability:
- Commitment to safe working practices and ability to promote safety consciousness within the department.
IT Skills:
- Advanced computer literacy, proficiency in control and instrumentation system design, analysis & database software.
People Skills:
- Excellent business and technical communication skills. Team oriented, leadership inclined towards group objectives.
Other Relevant Information:
- Limited travel required
- Work require liaising with other disciplines to develop design.
