About the job




  • We are seeking a dedicated, disciplined, and proactive Perioperative Assistant to join our surgical team. The successful candidate will play a vital role in ensuring the Operating Theatre (OT) runs smoothly, maintaining a sterile environment, and providing essential support to surgeons, anaesthetists, and nursing staff before, during, and after surgical procedures.



Key Responsibilities




  • Operating Room Preparation: Assist in preparing the theatre with necessary equipment, sterile drapes, and instruments required for specific surgeries.

  • Patient Care & Transport: Safely transport patients to and from the ward to the operating theatre and assist in the correct positioning of patients on the operating table.

  • Sterilization & Hygiene: Maintain strict aseptic techniques. Clean and disinfect the theatre between cases and ensure the proper disposal of clinical waste.

  • Assistance During Surgery: Provide non-clinical assistance to the surgical team, such as adjusting lights, opening sterile packs, and handling unsterile equipment.

  • Administrative Compliance: Accurately maintain all required logs, including the Linen Entry/Exit Register, equipment inventory, and security logs.

  • Inventory Management: Assist in restocking surgical supplies and ensuring that all necessary consumables are available for the day’s list.



Required Qualifications & Skills




  • Education: Minimum of a Diploma in Health Assistance.

  • Experience: At least [1-2] years of experience in a hospital environment, preferably within a surgical or emergency department.

  • Professionalism: Outstanding interpersonal skills with a proven ability to remain calm and respectful under pressure.

  • Strict adherence to hospital conduct policies is mandatory.

  • Physical Fitness: Ability to stand for long periods and assist in lifting/moving patients and heavy equipment.

  • Attention to Detail: Deep understanding of sterilization protocols and the importance of following administrative registers.
