- A network manageroversees an Linkorg’s network by planning, implementing, and maintaining its infrastructure to ensure reliability and security.
- Key responsibilities include designing and installing networks, troubleshooting issues, managing security measures, and overseeing network performance and backups.
- This role requires a strong technical background in areas like networking and security, combined with excellent leadership and communication skills.
Responsibilities
- Design, configure, deploy and maintain network infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls.
- Defining network architecture standards, policies, and procedures
- Overseeing implementation of firewalls, switches, wireless, and cloud networking
- Ensuring network security through segmentation, access control, and patching
- Managing SLAs, incident escalations, and service provider relationships
- Planning and budgeting for network upgrades and infrastructure projects
- Monitoring KPIs such as uptime, latency, and response time
- Plan and execute network upgrades, expansions, and migrations.
- Ensure network designs are scalable and support current and future service demands
- Monitor network performance and identify bottlenecks, failures, and other issues using tools such as Zabbix, PRTG, or Nagios.
- Conduct root cause analysis of network issues and implement corrective actions to prevent future occurrences.
- Troubleshoot network problems related to connectivity, latency, routing, switching, and traffic management.
- Ensure all network incidents are handled within defined SLAs.
- Provide technical support to other departments during the deployment of new services or systems.
- Maintain detailed documentation of network designs, configurations, incidents, and resolutions.
- Provide regular reports on network performance, uptime, and capacity to management.
- Evaluate new networking solutions, tools, and equipment to improve network performance and reliability.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Telecommunications, or a related field.
- Relevant industry certifications such as CCNP or equivalent is highly desirable.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in network engineering, preferably within an ISP or telecommunications company.
- Hands-on experience with routers, switches, firewalls, and other network equipment from vendors like Cisco, Juniper, Huawei and Mikrotic devices
- Strong knowledge of IP networking.
- Strong expertise in routing protocols such as BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, and MPLS.
- Familiarity with network automation and scripting (e.g., Python, Bash) is a plus.
- Proficiency in using network monitoring and management tools like Zabbix, SolarWinds, Wireshark, or PRTG.
Salary
N650,000 - N700,000 monthly.
