Job Summary
- The Account Officer will be responsible for managing day-to-day financial transactions, maintaining accurate financial records, supporting financial reporting, and ensuring compliance with company policies and statutory requirements. The role requires a detail-oriented professional with 2–3 years of accounting experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Record and maintain accurate financial transactions in the accounting system
- Prepare and post journal entries, ledgers, and trial balances
- Handle accounts payable and accounts receivable functions
- Prepare invoices, receipts, and payment vouchers
- Reconcile bank statements and resolve discrepancies
- Support monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting
- Assist in budget preparation and cost monitoring
- Maintain proper documentation for financial records and audits
- Ensure compliance with tax regulations (VAT, WHT, PAYE where applicable)
- Support external and internal audit processes
- Monitor expenses and ensure adherence to approved budgets
- Liaise with vendors, clients, and internal departments on financial matters
Requirements and Qualifications
- BSc or HND in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline with 2–3 years of relevant work experience as an Account Officer or similar role
- Good knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel
- Basic understanding of Nigerian tax laws and statutory compliance
- Strong attention to detail and numerical accuracy
- Good organizational and time management skills
- Ability to work with minimal supervision
