Job Description
The HR Administrator will provide day-to-day human resource and administrative support to ensure efficient workforce management in a packaging/manufacturing environment. The role supports recruitment, staff records, payroll coordination, compliance with Nigerian labour laws, and general HR operations while promoting a productive and safe workplace.
Key Responsibilities
Human Resources Administration
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records (personnel files, contracts, confirmations, promotions, disciplinary actions).
- Prepare employment letters (offer, confirmation, termination, queries, warnings).
- Manage staff attendance, leave records, shift schedules, and overtime documentation.
- Support onboarding and exit processes for factory and office staff.
Recruitment & Onboarding
- Assist with recruitment for factory workers, technicians, supervisors, and admin staff.
- Schedule interviews and coordinate recruitment logistics.
- Conduct orientation for new employees on company policies, safety rules, and factory procedures.
- Ensure all new hires submit required documentation (ID, guarantor forms, medicals, etc.).
Payroll & Compensation Support
- Compile attendance, overtime, and deductions for payroll processing.
- Liaise with finance/accounts on salary payments and staff allowances.
- Administer statutory deductions and benefits:
- Respond to employee payroll and benefits inquiries.
Compliance & Employee Relations
- Ensure HR practices comply with Nigerian Labour Law and company policies.
- Assist in handling employee grievances, disciplinary cases, and conflict resolution.
- Support management during disciplinary hearings and document outcomes.
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all HR matters.
Health, Safety & Welfare (Factory Environment)
- Support implementation of workplace health and safety policies.
- Assist in tracking staff medicals, PPE distribution, and safety training records.
- Promote employee welfare initiatives suitable for factory staff.
Training & Performance Support
- Assist in coordinating staff training, inductions, and skills development.
- Maintain training records and certificates.
- Support performance appraisal processes and documentation.
General Administration
- Manage HR office supplies and records.
- Prepare HR reports (headcount, turnover, attendance, leave, disciplinary cases).
- Support audits and inspections (labour, safety, pension, etc.).
- Perform other HR and administrative duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Requirements
Education
- HND / B.Sc. in Human Resources, Business Administration, Industrial Relations, or related field.
Experience
- 2–4 years HR/Admin experience, preferably in a manufacturing or packaging company.
- Experience managing factory workers is an advantage.
Skills & Competencies
- Good knowledge of Nigerian labour laws and HR practices.
- Strong organizational and record-keeping skills.
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and HR documentation.
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced factory environment.
