Job Description
Role Overview
- The Solar Technician will be responsible for designing, installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting residential and commercial solar power systems — with a focus on reliability and performance.
Key Responsibilities
System Design
- Design solar systems based on load analysis and site conditions
- Properly size panels, inverters, charge controllers & battery banks
Installation
- Execute full end-to-end solar installations
- Install panel arrays, wiring, inverters, and battery systems
- Commission newly installed systems
Troubleshooting & Repairs
- Diagnose and resolve issues quickly across system components
- Identify performance losses and efficiency gaps
Battery Systems
- Configure batteries in series, parallel, or hybrid setups
- Work with Lithium, Gel, AGM & Lead-Acid technologies
- Apply correct charging profiles and safety best practices
Electrical & Maintenance
- Interpret wiring diagrams and comply with electrical safety standards
- Perform preventive maintenance and upgrades
- Use diagnostic tools (multimeter, clamp meter, etc.)
Documentation
- Record all installation, maintenance, and repair activities clearly
Added Advantage (Bonus Skills)
- Experience with mini-grids or shared solar nano-grid systems
- Knowledge of smart meters, load control, and energy monitoring
- Field experience in Nigeria’s power/solar industry
- Ability to support or mentor junior technicians
