Summary
- We are currently seeking a Safety Officer at our facility in Awka, Anambra State, to effectively manage and enforce safety protocols, ensuring a safe working environment on the company's shop floor.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and oversee safety protocols and procedures on the shop floor.
- Conduct regular safety inspections and audits to ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
- Identify potential hazards and take proactive measures to prevent accidents and injuries.
- Investigate any accidents or incidents on the shop floor and prepare detailed reports.
- Conduct safety training sessions for employees to promote a culture of safety.
- Ensure that all safety equipment and devices are properly maintained and in good working condition.
- Maintain up-to-date records of safety inspections, incidents, and training activities.
- Prepare and put up safety signages regularly.
- Stay informed about the latest safety regulations and best practices in the industry.
- Prepare and submit regular reports on safety activities and performance to management.
Skills and Qualifications
- Minimum of HND in Occupational Health and Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field.
- 2 - 5 years proven experience as a Safety Officer in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
- Strong knowledge of safety regulations, standards, and best practices.
- Excellent attention to detail and observational skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to conduct thorough investigations and prepare detailed reports.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite especially Microsoft Excel.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to implement practical solutions.
- Ability to work well under pressure and manage multiple tasks.
- Certification in occupational health and safety (e.g., NEBOSH, OSHA) is preferred.
