- Procurement officers are an important part of the supply chain of an organization.
- They communicate with vendors and order high-quality products and materials for the business while ensuring that purchases meet quality, cost, and timeliness requirements
Key Responsibilities
- Overseeing and supervising all activities of the purchasing department.
- Preparing plans for the purchase of equipment, services, and supplies.
- Following and enforcing the company's procurement policies and procedures.
- Reviewing, comparing, analyzing, and approving items and services to be purchased.
- Managing inventories and maintaining accurate purchase and pricing records.
- Maintaining and updating supplier information such as delivery times, product ranges, etc.
- Maintaining good supplier relations and negotiating contracts.
- Researching and evaluating prospective market and suppliers.
- Preparing budgets, cost analyses and reports.
Qualification and Required Skills
- HND or OND in Accounting, business management or a related field with 2 – 4 years of working experience.
- 2+ years of experience as a procurement officer or in a similar role.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong communication and negotiation skills.
- Good analytical and strategic thinking skills.
- Supervisory and management experience.
- Strong attention to detail.
