Job Summary
- The Financial Controller is responsible for overseeing end-to-end financial management, reporting, and control across multiple cocoa processing and manufacturing facilities. The role ensures accurate financial reporting, strong internal controls, cost optimization, statutory compliance, and financial support to plant and corporate leadership, with a focus on manufacturing efficiency and profitability.
Financial Control & Reporting
- Oversee accounting, financial reporting, and monthly/annual close for multiple cocoa factories
- Ensure timely and accurate preparation of standalone and consolidated financial statements
- Monitor compliance with IFRS / local GAAP and company accounting policies
- Manage balance sheet integrity, including inventory, fixed assets, receivables, and payables
Manufacturing Costing & Performance
- Lead factory costing, standard costing, and variance analysis (raw cocoa beans, yield loss, wastage, utilities, labor, and overheads)
- Analyze production yields, conversion costs, and plant efficiency metrics
- Support pricing, margin analysis, and profitability by product and factory
- Partner with plant managers to drive cost control and operational efficiency
Budgeting, Forecasting & FP&A
- Lead annual budgets and rolling forecasts for all factories
- Track actuals vs budget and provide actionable insights to management
- Support capital expenditure planning, ROI analysis, and post-investment reviews
- Develop KPIs and dashboards for factory performance
Internal Controls & Compliance
- Design, implement, and monitor internal financial controls across all plants
- Ensure statutory, tax, and regulatory compliance (direct and indirect taxes)
- Coordinate internal and external audits, including inventory and process audits
- Mitigate financial and operational risks, including fraud prevention
Inventory, Working Capital & Cash Flow
- Oversee inventory valuation, cycle counts, and physical stock verifications
- Optimize working capital including raw materials, WIP, finished goods, and receivables
- Monitor cash flow and support treasury and liquidity planning
Systems & Process Improvement
- Ensure effective use of ERP systems
- Standardize finance processes and reporting across factories
- Drive automation, digitization, and continuous improvement initiatives
Leadership & Stakeholder Management
- Lead and develop factory finance teams across locations
- Act as a key finance business partner to operations, supply chain, and procurement
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting
- Professional qualifications (ICAN or ACCA) preferred.
- 10–15 years of experience in manufacturing finance or plant controllership.
- Minimum 5+ years in a multi-factory or multi-location environment.
- Experience in food, FMCG, agro-processing, or commodity-based manufacturing preferred.
- Strong expertise in manufacturing finance and cost accounting.
- In-depth knowledge of agro-commodity processing (cocoa preferred).
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-support skills.
- Strong leadership and multi-location team management capability.
- Advanced Excel skills; strong ERP and reporting tool experience.
- High attention to detail with ability to work under pressure.
