Job Summary
- We are seeking a skilled Architect / Project Manager to manage architectural design and oversee construction projects across Nigeria.
- The role requires strong design coordination, hands-on site management, and the ability to work with local contractors, consultants, and regulatory authorities to deliver projects on time, within budget, and in compliance with Nigerian building regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare architectural designs, working drawings, and construction details
- Coordinate designs with structural, mechanical, and electrical consultants
- Ensure compliance with Nigerian Building Codes, planning regulations, and fire safety standards
- Prepare and submit drawings for planning approvals (LASPPPA, state planning authorities, etc.)
- Review shop drawings, materials, and samples for compliance with design intent
- Plan and manage projects from design stage through construction to handover
- Prepare project schedules, work programmes, and budgets
- Supervise construction works on site and ensure quality control
- Coordinate contractors, artisans, vendors, and suppliers
- Conduct site meetings and issue site instructions
- Monitor progress and prepare weekly/monthly site reports
- Manage variations, claims, and cost control
- Interpret contract drawings and specifications
- Prepare and review interim valuations and certificates
- Ensure compliance with contract terms and conditions
- Coordinate snagging, defects liability period, and final handover
- Serve as the primary liaison between clients, consultants, and contractors
- Provide regular progress depots and cost updates to clients
- Resolve site and design issues promptly
Qualifications & Experience
- B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Architecture
- ARCON registration (Optional)
- NIA membership (added advantage)
- 5–8 years post-qualification experience
- Proven experience managing residential, commercial, or mixed-use projects in Nigeria
Skills & Competencies:
- Strong knowledge of Nigerian construction practices and materials
- Ability to manage multiple sites and contractors
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, and MS Project
- Good understanding of BOQs, contracts, and construction documentation
- Strong leadership, communication, and negotiation skills
Preferred Experience:
- Experience with projects in Lagos and other major Nigerian cities
- Familiarity with approval processes and government agencies
- Experience in cost control and value engineering.
