Job Description
Role Purpose
- The Chief Technological Officer would oversee MCL’s technical solutioning, pre‑sales architecture, and technology strategy across Communication & Connectivity, Data Centre Infrastructure, Cybersecurity, and Managed Services.
- The role ensures MCL delivers compelling, competitive, and technically sound solutions that win business, deepen OEM partnerships, and enable successful project execution
- This leader manages the Solutions Architects, Pre‑Sales Engineers, and Technical Practice Leads, ensuring strong collaboration with Sales, Delivery, and OEM partners.
Key Responsibilities
Technology Strategy & Solution Leadership:
- Define MCL’s solution strategy and technology roadmap across networking, data centre, cybersecurity, and managed services.
- Develop and maintain reusable solution architectures, reference designs, and standardised bill-of-materials.
- Ensure solutions are aligned with OEM best practices, industry standards, and customer requirements.
- Guide adoption of cloud, hybrid architectures, automation, SASE, and modern security frameworks.
Sales Engineering & Pre‑Sales Leadership:
- Lead the pre‑sales function, ensuring high-quality technical proposals, solution designs, and SOWs.
- Partner with Sales to qualify opportunities, shape customer requirements, and position MCL competitively.
- Provide senior technical representation in customer meetings, workshops, and executive briefings.
- Oversee technical bid responses, RFP submissions, and solution costing.
OEM & Partner Management:
- Own strategic relationships with key OEMs (Cisco, Fortinet, VMware, Ribbon, etc.).
- Drive partner competency attainment, joint go‑to‑market initiatives, and technical enablement.
- Manage escalation paths with OEMs for solution design, support, and certification requirements.
Delivery Alignment & Solution Assurance:
- Work closely with Delivery Leads to ensure solutions are implementable, scalable, and cost-effective.
- Provide solution assurance during project kickoff and major milestones.
- Support resolution of complex technical issues that impact customer satisfaction or project outcomes.
- Ensure smooth handover from pre‑sales to delivery teams.
People Leadership & Capability Development:
- Lead and develop the Solutions Architecture and Pre‑Sales Engineering teams.
- Build technical capability through structured learning paths, certifications, and OEM training.
- Set performance goals, coach team members, and build succession pipelines.
- Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and customer-centricity.
Governance, Documentation & Quality:
- Maintain solution documentation, architecture standards, and technical governance processes.
- Ensure compliance with security, regulatory, and OEM requirements.
- Improve quality of proposals, designs, and customer-facing technical materials.
Required Experience & Qualifications
- 12+ years’ experience in enterprise technology (networking, data centre, cybersecurity).
- 5+ years in pre‑sales, solutions architecture, or technical leadership roles.
- Proven experience leading technical teams (solutions architects, pre‑sales engineers, or practice leads).
- Strong background designing enterprise network, DC, and security solutions.
- Demonstrated success engaging C-level stakeholders and supporting complex sales cycles.
- Experience working with major OEMs (Cisco, Fortinet, VMware, etc.).
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
- Relevant certifications strongly preferred: CCNP/CCIE, NSE, VCP, AWS/Azure, ITIL, CISSP.
Preferred Experience:
- Experience in managed services solutioning and ITSM frameworks.
- Exposure to automation tools (Terraform, Ansible), observability platforms, and cloud-native architectures.
- Experience developing repeatable offerings or productised solutions.
- Familiarity with telco, large enterprise, or data centre transformation projects.
