Job Summary
- The Field Engineer (Mechanical) is responsible for the installation, inspection, supervision, troubleshooting, and maintenance of mechanical systems and equipment at project sites.
- The role requires strong practical engineering skills, adherence to safety and quality standards, and effective coordination with site teams, contractors, and management.
Key Responsibilities
Technical & Site Operations:
- Supervise installation, testing, commissioning, and maintenance of mechanical equipment and systems
- Interpret mechanical drawings, specifications, and technical documents
- Conduct routine inspections and ensure equipment operates within design parameters
- Diagnose mechanical faults and implement corrective actions on-site
- Ensure proper use of tools, machinery, and engineering materials
Project Execution:
- Monitor site activities to ensure compliance with project plans, timelines, and budgets
- Liaise with contractors, technicians, and suppliers to ensure smooth field operations
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly site progress reports
- Support project engineers and managers in executing mechanical aspects of projects
Quality, Safety & Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with engineering standards, company procedures, and regulatory requirements
- Enforce Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) policies on site
- Conduct risk assessments and toolbox talks for mechanical activities
- Ensure quality control and documentation of mechanical works
Communication & Coordination:
- Serve as the technical point of contact on-site for mechanical issues
- Communicate effectively with management on site challenges and solutions
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to technicians and junior staff
Required Skills & Competencies:
- Strong knowledge of mechanical engineering principles and field practices
- Ability to work effectively in field/site environments
- Problem-solving and analytical skills
- Good report writing and documentation skills
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
Educational Qualifications
- Mandatory: Bachelor’s Degree or HND in Mechanical Engineering
- Relevant professional certification is an added advantage
Experience Requirements:
- Minimum of 8 years of field experience in mechanical engineering roles
- Experience in construction, manufacturing, oil & gas, utilities, or industrial projects is an advantage.
Working Conditions:
- Extensive site and field work
- Willingness to travel and work in remote locations when required.
