Job Summary
- The CNC Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machines used in the production of automotive parts and components.
- The role ensures precision machining in line with engineering specifications, quality standards, and production timelines.
- The ideal candidate must have hands-on experience operating CNC machines within an automobile manufacturing or industrial environment.
Key Responsibilities
Machine Setup & Operation:
- Set up and operate CNC milling, turning, or machining centers according to production specifications.
- Load raw materials, select appropriate tools, and input correct program parameters.
- Monitor machine operations to ensure precision and efficiency.
Reading & Interpreting Technical Drawings:
- Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and work instructions.
- Ensure machining processes meet dimensional tolerances and design requirements.
Quality Control:
- Inspect finished components using measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, gauges, and CMM tools.
- Identify defects and make necessary adjustments to maintain quality standards.
- Document inspection results and report deviations.
Machine Maintenance:
- Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of CNC machines.
- Identify minor mechanical or programming issues and report major faults to the maintenance team.
- Ensure machines operate at optimal performance levels.
Programming Support (Where Applicable):
- Make minor edits to CNC programs where required.
- Work closely with CNC Programmers and Engineers to improve machining efficiency.
Safety & Compliance:
- Follow all HSE and workshop safety procedures.
- Use appropriate PPE when operating machinery.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
Job Requirements
Educational Qualification:
- OND / HND in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Manufacturing Technology, or related field.
- Technical certification in CNC operation is an added advantage.
Experience:
- 3–7 years’ experience as a CNC Operator in an automobile manufacturing or precision machining environment.
- Practical experience operating CNC milling and/or turning machines.
Technical Skills:
- Strong knowledge of CNC machine operations and tooling.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
- Proficiency in using precision measuring instruments.
- Basic understanding of G-code and CNC programming is an advantage.
- Knowledge of automotive component manufacturing processes.
