About the job
- Adexen was mandated by an international company in the manufacturing and distribution of building materials to recruit a Financial Controller for Nigeria. The position is based in Lagos.
Responsibilities
- Oversee day-to-day financial operations, accounting records, and reporting
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
- Ensure proper accounting controls across all departments
- Monitor cash flow, expenses, and budget performance
- Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger functions
- Ensure compliance with tax regulations, statutory filings, and regulatory requirements
- Coordinate audits and liaise with external auditors, tax consultants, and regulators
- Review payroll processing and statutory deductions
- Support management with financial analysis, forecasting, and decision-making
- Implement and improve financial policies, procedures, and internal controls
- Supervise and review the work of the accounts team
Desired Skills and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- A Professional qualification (ICAN or ACCA) is required
- Minimum of 8 years’ experience in accounting or finance, preferably in a trading or FMCG environment
- Strong knowledge of accounting standards, financial reporting, and tax compliance
- Experience working with inventory, cost control, and warehouse-related accounting
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel
- Strong attention to detail and analytical skills
- High level of integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality
- Ability to work independently and manage deadlines effectively
