Job Brief
- Our client is seeking a meticulous and detail-oriented Quantity Surveyor to join our team.
- The Quantity Surveyor will be responsible for estimating project costs, managing budgets, and ensuring cost efficiency throughout the construction process.
Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed cost estimates for construction projects, considering all materials, labor, and equipment costs.
- Analyze project plans and specifications to identify potential cost risks and opportunities.
- Manage and negotiate subcontracts with suppliers and contractors to ensure cost-effectiveness.
- Prepare and submit tender documents for projects, ensuring they are accurate and competitive.
- Monitor project progress and costs, identifying and reporting any variances from the original estimate.
- Prepare and submit invoices for completed work, ensuring timely payment from clients.
- Review and manage variations to the project scope, ensuring cost implications are understood and approved.
- Participate in project meetings and provide cost-related advice to project stakeholders.
- Maintain accurate records of all project costs and financial transactions.
- Prepare final cost reports for projects, analyzing and explaining any deviations from the original estimate.
- Stay up-to-date on construction industry trends, cost data, and regulations.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of cost management strategies for the organization.
- Identify and implement opportunities to improve cost efficiency in projects.
- Collaborate with other professionals such as architects, engineers, and project managers.
- Adhere to professional ethics and standards, ensuring the integrity and accuracy of cost estimates and reports.
Requirements and Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Quantity Surveying or a related field.
- Membership in a professional Quantity Surveying institute
- 5+ years of experience in Quantity Surveying or a similar role.
- Strong understanding of construction costs, pricing, and estimating principles.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficient in cost estimating software (e.g., S100, BCIS).
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to negotiate effectively with suppliers and contractors.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
