Job Summary
- The Mathematics Teacher is responsible for delivering high-quality instruction in mathematics to students, developing their mathematical reasoning, problem-solving skills, and analytical thinking.
- The teacher will create engaging lessons that make mathematics accessible and relevant, preparing students for academic success and real-world applications.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging mathematics lessons aligned with the curriculum and educational standards
- Break down complex mathematical concepts into understandable steps
- Relate mathematical concepts to real-world applications and practical situations
- Prepare students for internal and external examinations (WAEC, NECO, JAMB, etc.)
- Develop students' computational skills, logical reasoning, and analytical thinking
- Foster problem-solving strategies and mathematical literacy
- Build students' confidence in their mathematical abilities
- Design and administer tests, quizzes, assignments, and examinations to assess student understanding
- Evaluate problem-solving processes, not just final answers
- Provide timely, constructive feedback showing where students went wrong and how to improve
- Recognize and address diverse mathematical abilities within the classroom
- Provide enrichment activities for advanced students
- Offer additional support and alternative explanations for struggling students
Qualification and Requirements
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Mathematics Education, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, or related field (minimum requirement)
- Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE)
Certification:
- Professional registration with Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN) or equivalent
Experience:
- Minimum 3 years of teaching experience at secondary/high school level
- Demonstrated success in preparing students for WAEC, NECO, and JAMB examinations
- Experience teaching mathematics at various levels (Junior and Senior Secondary)
