Job Summary
- We are seeking an experienced Cook to prepare high-quality meals in Abuja.
- The ideal candidate must have experience cooking for large groups (20+ people), be versatile in preparing both local and continental dishes, and maintain high standards of food safety, consistency, and hygiene.
Key Responsibilities
Food Preparation & Cooking:
- Prepare and cook meals in large quantities (20+ servings per batch).
- Cook a wide variety of dishes, including:
- Shawarma and other quick-service meals
- Jollof rice
- Fried rice
- Soups and stews
- Local Nigerian dishes
- Continental meals as required
- Ensure consistent taste, portion control, and presentation.
- Follow standardized recipes and dietary guidelines (where applicable for hospital patients).
- Properly season, garnish, and package meals for distribution.
Kitchen Operations:
- Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the cooking stations.
- Ensure proper storage of ingredients and cooked meals.
- Monitor food stock levels and notify supervisors when replenishment is needed.
- Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently.
- Minimize food waste and, where possible, control costs.
- Assist in menu planning when required.
Food Safety & Compliance:
- Adhere strictly to food hygiene and safety standards.
- Ensure all meals are prepared in a clean and sanitary environment.
- Monitor food temperatures during cooking and holding.
- Follow health and safety regulations at all times.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Cook (minimum 2–3 years preferred).
- Experience cooking for large groups (20+ people consistently).
- Strong knowledge of Nigerian and continental cuisine.
- Ability to prepare both traditional meals and fast-service items like shawarma.
- Good understanding of food safety and hygiene practices.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume kitchen.
- Physically fit and able to stand for long hours.
- Team player with good communication skills.
