Job Summary




  • We are seeking an experienced Cook to prepare high-quality meals in Abuja.

  • The ideal candidate must have experience cooking for large groups (20+ people), be versatile in preparing both local and continental dishes, and maintain high standards of food safety, consistency, and hygiene.



Key Responsibilities

Food Preparation & Cooking:




  • Prepare and cook meals in large quantities (20+ servings per batch).

  • Cook a wide variety of dishes, including:

    • Shawarma and other quick-service meals

    • Jollof rice

    • Fried rice

    • Soups and stews

    • Local Nigerian dishes

    • Continental meals as required



  • Ensure consistent taste, portion control, and presentation.

  • Follow standardized recipes and dietary guidelines (where applicable for hospital patients).

  • Properly season, garnish, and package meals for distribution.



Kitchen Operations:




  • Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the cooking stations.

  • Ensure proper storage of ingredients and cooked meals.

  • Monitor food stock levels and notify supervisors when replenishment is needed.

  • Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently.

  • Minimize food waste and, where possible, control costs.

  • Assist in menu planning when required.



Food Safety & Compliance:




  • Adhere strictly to food hygiene and safety standards.

  • Ensure all meals are prepared in a clean and sanitary environment.

  • Monitor food temperatures during cooking and holding.

  • Follow health and safety regulations at all times.



Requirements




  • Proven experience as a Cook (minimum 2–3 years preferred).

  • Experience cooking for large groups (20+ people consistently).

  • Strong knowledge of Nigerian and continental cuisine.

  • Ability to prepare both traditional meals and fast-service items like shawarma.

  • Good understanding of food safety and hygiene practices.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume kitchen.

  • Physically fit and able to stand for long hours.

  • Team player with good communication skills.
