Job Summary
- The Procurement Officer is responsible for sourcing and purchasing electrical materials, engineering equipment, tools, and project-related services required for electrical installations and power projects and also every other office needs to be purchased.
Key Responsibilities
- Source electrical materials including cables, transformers, switchgear, circuit breakers, panels, meters, conduits, generators, and related components.
- Interpret technical specifications, BOQs (Bills of Quantities), drawings, and material schedules.
- Obtain and evaluate supplier quotations based on technical compliance and pricing.
- Identify and onboard reliable suppliers of electrical equipment and engineering and other services.
- Negotiate pricing, warranties, delivery timelines, and service agreements
- Work closely with Electrical Engineers, Project Managers, and Site Supervisors to understand project material requirements.
- Ensure timely procurement to avoid project delays.
- Track long-lead items and ensure proactive ordering.
- Ensure procurement aligns with approved project budgets.
- Analyze cost variations and propose cost-saving alternatives.
- Monitor stock levels of frequently used electrical items.
- Coordinate deliveries to project sites.
- Ensure adherence to company procurement policies.
- Maintain accurate records of purchase orders, invoices, contracts, and delivery notes.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree or HND in Electrical Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or related field with 1–2 years’ experience in procurement within an electrical, construction, or engineering company.
- Strong understanding of electrical components and materials.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and BOQs.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and ERP/procurement software.
- Strong negotiation and analytical skills.
