Role Overview
- The Cath Lab Nurse provides specialized nursing care to patients undergoing cardiac catheterization and other interventional cardiac procedures.
- The role involves patient preparation, intra-procedural monitoring, post-procedure care, and ensuring patient safety throughout the process.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare patients for cardiac catheterization procedures and provide necessary education.
- Assist cardiologists during diagnostic and interventional cardiac procedures.
- Monitor patients before, during, and after procedures (vital signs, ECG, hemodynamic parameters).
- Provide post-procedure care including site assessment, bleeding control, and patient stabilization.
- Ensure Cath Lab equipment, medications, and sterile supplies are functional and compliant with standards.
- Maintain accurate patient documentation, procedure records, and incident reports.
- Adhere to infection control, safety procedures, and hospital policies.
- Collaborate with cardiologists, anesthetists, radiographers, and other healthcare professionals.
Qualifications & Experience
- Registered Nurse (RN) with a valid practicing license.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in a Cardiac Catheterization Lab, Cardiology, or Interventional Radiology unit.
- BLS and ACLS certifications.
- Strong knowledge of cardiac procedures, ECG monitoring, and hemodynamic monitoring.
