Job Summary




  • Astracrest Investment Limited is seeking a knowledgeable and experienced Agronomist specializing in Oil Palm, Coconut, and Plantain production to support the company’s agricultural operations. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing technical expertise in crop management, improving plantation productivity, and implementing best agronomic practices to ensure optimal yield and sustainable production.



Key Responsibilities




  • Provide agronomic guidance for the cultivation and management of oil palm, coconut, and plantain plantations.

  • Monitor crop performance and recommend strategies to improve yield and productivity.

  • Conduct field inspections and assess soil health, crop nutrition, and irrigation needs.

  • Develop and implement crop management plans including planting, fertilization, pest and disease control.

  • Support plantation managers and field staff with technical advice on best agricultural practices.

  • Identify and manage pests, diseases, and other crop-related challenges.

  • Maintain accurate records of farm inputs, crop performance, and field activities.

  • Prepare agronomic reports and recommendations for management.

  • Promote sustainable and environmentally responsible farming practices.



Educational Qualification




  • Bachelor’s Degree in Agronomy, Crop Science, Agriculture, or a related field.

  • A Master’s degree in Agronomy or related discipline will be an added advantage.



Experience:




  • 3–5 years experience in agronomy or plantation management. Practical experience working with oil palm, coconut, and plantain crops is highly required.



Required Skills:




  • Strong knowledge of oil palm, coconut, and plantain agronomy.

  • Understanding of soil fertility management and crop nutrition.

  • Ability to identify and manage crop pests and diseases.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work in field environments and manage agricultural operations.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office for reporting and documentation.
