- St. Dominic Catholic Hospital is seeking a compassionate and skilled Registered Midwife to join our maternal and child healthcare team.
- The successful candidate will be responsible for providing safe, high-quality antenatal, intrapartum, and postnatal care to mothers and newborns while ensuring adherence to professional standards and hospital policies.
- The ideal candidate must demonstrate strong clinical competence, empathy, and a commitment to promoting maternal and newborn health.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive antenatal, labour, and postnatal care to expectant and new mothers.
- Monitor the progress of labour and assist in safe delivery of babies.
- Assess the health condition of both mother and newborn before, during, and after delivery.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by the attending physician.
- Assist doctors during obstetric procedures when required.
- Provide counselling and education to mothers on breastfeeding, newborn care, family planning, and maternal health.
- Monitor and record vital signs and maintain accurate patient records.
- Identify complications and promptly escalate to the appropriate medical personnel.
- Maintain hygiene and infection prevention standards within the maternity unit.
- Participate in ward rounds and maternity team meetings.
- Support hospital initiatives aimed at improving maternal and child health outcomes.
Education & Professional Requirements
- Registered Midwife (RM), BNSC / ND qualification from a recognized institution
- Valid registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council
- Current practicing license.
Experience:
- 2 - 6 years of experience in maternity care (preferred)
- Experience working in a hospital maternity unit will be an added advantage.
