About The Role




  • The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) will lead Kaltani’s financial strategy, capital raising, and financial operations ensuring transparency, efficiency, and alignment with growth and sustainability objectives.

  • The CFO will drive corporate and project finance initiatives for large-scale recycling parks, RDF plants, and landfill developments, while strengthening governance to institutional standards as Kaltani expands across Nigeria and West Africa.



Key Responsibilities

Financial Strategy & Leadership:




  • Develop and implement Kaltani’s short- and long-term financial strategy aligned with business growth, ESG goals, and investor expectations.

  • Oversee financial planning, budgeting, cash flow management, and forecasting to ensure business sustainability and profitability.

  • Build robust financial models integrating multiple revenue streams including waste collection, recyclables sales, carbon credits, and concession income.

  • Partner with the CEO and Board to define financial goals and KPIs, ensuring transparent communication and strategic decision support.



Fundraising & Capital Structuring:




  • Lead the end-to-end capital raising process, from sourcing to negotiation and execution of debt, equity, and grant instruments.

  • Cultivate strong relationships with development finance institutions (DFIs), private equity firms, commercial banks, and climate finance partners (e.g., IFC, AFREXIM, NSIA, Helios, SocGen).

  • Structure sustainability-linked financing vehicles such as green bonds, SDG grants, and carbon credit pre-financing arrangements.

  • Develop project finance documentation, term sheets, and investor reports to meet institutional-grade standards.



Governance, Controls & Compliance:




  • Institutionalize IFRS-standard accounting systems and ensure audit-readiness at all times.

  • Establish and enforce internal control systems, financial policies, and risk management frameworks.

  • Ensure compliance with tax, regulatory, and concession-related obligations in Nigeria and partner jurisdictions.

  • Lead ERP system implementation (SAP / NetSuite / Odoo) to improve transparency, reporting, and accountability.



Performance Management & Analytics:




  • Drive cost optimization, working capital efficiency, and ROI analysis across all operational units.

  • Lead Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) to assess profitability and operational efficiency across states and subsidiaries.

  • Build integrated dashboards linking operational KPIs (from COO) to financial outcomes, enabling data-driven management decisions.

  • Monitor and report performance metrics to management and investors.



Board & Investor Relations:




  • Serve as the primary liaison between the executive team, Board, and investors on all financial and strategic matters.

  • Prepare and deliver detailed board packs, investor reports, and fundraising decks.

  • Represent Kaltani in financial negotiations, public-private partnership (PPP) meetings, and donor engagements.

  • Ensure consistent and credible communication with investors and external stakeholders.



Sustainability & Carbon Finance:




  • Integrate ESG metrics, carbon finance, and impact reporting into Kaltani’s financial framework.

  • Build models for carbon credit monetization, offset verification, and revenue forecasting.

  • Partner with carbon advisory teams to register, verify, and commercialize highintegrity carbon and plastic credits.



Key Performance Indicators (First 12 Months)




  • Objective: Optimize working capital and improve financial efficiency.

  • KPI: Reduce operational expenditure per ton by the targeted percentage and shorten the cash conversion cycle through improved billing, collections, and vendor management processes.

  • Objective: Drive carbon monetization and sustainability-linked financial reporting.

  • KPI: Achieve successful registration, verification, and reporting of carbon and plastic credits from Kaltani’s operations, creating new revenue streams and integrating carbon forecasts into company financial models.

  • Objective: Enhance investor confidence and board engagement.

  • KPI: Deliver a clean and transparent annual audit, issue quarterly investor updates, and maintain consistent communication with DFIs, equity partners, and grant institutions to reinforce trust and accountability.



Required Experience & Skills




  • 15+ years of progressive finance leadership in infrastructure, energy, waste management, or ESG-driven industries.

  • Demonstrated success structuring and closing multi-million-dollar transactions (>$10M).

  • Proven track record in corporate finance, project finance, or blended capital structuring.

  • Expertise in FP&A, treasury, compliance, and audit management.

  • Strong relationships with DFIs, ESG funds, banks, and investor networks.

  • Excellent analytical, negotiation, and presentation skills.

  • Advanced proficiency in Excel, ERP platforms, and financial modelling tools.

  • Chartered Accountant (ICAN, ACCA, CPA) or MBA in Finance preferred.

  • Experience in emerging markets (Africa, SE Asia, LatAm) is a strong advantage
