Key Responsibilities
Supervision of Housekeeping Staff:
- Supervise room attendants, cleaners, laundry attendants, and other housekeeping personnel.
- Allocate daily duties and room assignments.
- Monitor staff attendance, punctuality, grooming, and work performance.
- Ensure staff follow hotel policies, SOPs, and safety procedures.
Guest Room Inspection:
- Inspect cleaned rooms to ensure they meet the required standard before releasing them for sale.
- Check beds, bathrooms, floors, windows, furniture, wardrobes, amenities, lighting, and overall presentation.
- Report maintenance defects such as faulty ACs, leaking taps, damaged furniture, bulbs, intercoms, and plumbing issues.
Cleanliness and Hygiene:
- Ensure high standards of cleanliness in guest rooms, corridors, staircases, elevators, public areas, and other assigned spaces.
- Ensure proper use of cleaning chemicals and equipment.
- Monitor hygiene standards and take immediate corrective action where necessary.
Room Status Control:
- Coordinate with the Front Office regarding room status.
- Ensure rooms marked Vacant Clean (VC) are genuinely clean and ready for sale.
- Follow up on Dirty, Out of Order, Out of Service, and Vacant Dirty rooms.
- Ensure rooms are cleaned promptly after check-out.
Linen and Uniform Control:
- Monitor the issue, collection, and storage of bed sheets, towels, pillowcases, curtains, and other linen.
- Maintain proper records of linen movement.
- Report missing, damaged, or excessively worn linen.
- Ensure staff uniforms are clean and properly maintained.
Housekeeping Supplies and Equipment:
- Monitor the use of cleaning materials and guest amenities.
- Request supplies when stock is running low.
- Prevent unnecessary wastage and misuse of chemicals and consumables.
- Ensure housekeeping equipment is properly cleaned, stored, and maintained.
Lost and Found:
- Ensure all items left behind by guests are properly recorded and handed over according to hotel policy.
- Maintain confidentiality and proper documentation of lost-and-found items.
Maintenance Coordination:
- Identify maintenance problems during room and public-area inspections.
- Report defects to the Maintenance Department.
- Follow up to ensure reported issues are resolved.
- Re-inspect the area after repairs.
Guest Complaints:
- Respond professionally to housekeeping-related complaints.
- Resolve issues promptly and follow up with guests where necessary.
- Escalate serious complaints to the Housekeeping Manager or Hotel Manager.
Requirements
- Interested candidates should possess relevant qualifications with at least 6 years experience.
Daily Reports:
The Supervisor should prepare or assist with:
- Daily room inspection report
- Housekeeping staff attendance report
- Room status report
- Maintenance/defect report
- Linen report
- Lost-and-found report
- Housekeeping supplies report
- Staff performance/disciplinary report where required
Training and Staff Development:
- Train new housekeeping employees on cleaning procedures and hotel standards.
- Conduct regular briefings and on-the-job training.
- Correct poor work practices and reinforce proper procedures.
- Ensure staff understand grooming, hygiene, safety, and guest-service standards.
Safety and Security:
- Ensure housekeeping staff follow safety procedures.
- Monitor safe handling and storage of chemicals.
- Report suspicious activities or security concerns.
- Ensure housekeeping areas are properly secured.
