Responsibilities and Performance
Solution selling and commercial execution:
- Lead discovery meetings, presentations and site visits with technical colleagues. Translate operational problems into a clear value proposition covering performance, reliability, energy use and lifecycle cost.
- Coordinate proposals, quotations, tender submissions and prequalification documents with engineering and estimating teams; maintain submission deadlines and follow-up plans.
- Ensure proposals clearly state scope, assumptions, exclusions, payment milestones, validity and delivery dependencies. Obtain technical approval for system performance and design claims.
- Negotiate within approved pricing and contract limits. Escalate discounts, credit terms, guarantees and non-standard commitments before acceptance; protect project margin and cash flow.
- Complete a documented sales-to-project handover covering the agreed scope, stakeholders, commercial terms, risks and promises made. Support finance with agreed payment follow-up and customer escalation.
Marketing and demand generation:
- Build and execute a marketing calendar covering the company website, LinkedIn, email campaigns, events, technical seminars and targeted outreach to priority accounts.
- Work with engineers to produce accurate case studies, solution brochures, presentations and technical content. Obtain approval for client names, images, testimonials and performance claims.
- Manage campaign and agency budgets against qualified leads, opportunities and pipeline contribution.
- Improve website enquiries and lead follow-up through measurable experiments.
- Monitor competitor activity, sector developments and customer feedback; use findings to sharpen positioning, campaign topics and sales priorities.
Team leadership and sales operations:
- Set individual objectives, coach assigned staff and run regular pipeline, account and campaign reviews.
- Coordinate external agencies and vendors against clear deliverables.
- Maintain accurate CRM records, including opportunity value, stage, expected close date, probability, decision-makers and next action. Submit evidence-based forecasts and management reports.
- Apply approved procurement, confidentiality and commercial controls. Maintain honest claims and ethical dealings with customers, consultants and partners.
Qualification Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree or HND in Engineering, Business, Marketing or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant professional experience.
- At least five years of relevant B2B sales or business development experience, including experience selling technical solutions and at least two years leading people, a commercial function or significant cross-functional sales initiatives.
- Demonstrated success winning project-based business in building automation, electrical or mechanical systems, ELV, energy management, HVAC controls or a closely related sector.
- Experience managing complex sales involving consultants, contractors, end users and procurement stakeholders, from discovery and tendering through negotiation and award.
- Practical experience planning and measuring B2B marketing campaigns, using CRM tools and preparing sales forecasts, proposals and management presentations.
- Commercial numeracy and sound understanding of pricing, gross margin, payment terms and project delivery risks.
