Job Description



  • Drive the delivery and implementation of all IT Infrastructure Operations projects ensuring the most optimal solution within time and budget is achieved. 

  • Analyze the capacity requirements and ensure the right underpinning scalable Infrastructure to support the Business needs for existing and new projects. 

  • Gather forecasted new and organic growth to manage demands from projects and technology upgrades.

  • Provide guidance and leadership to a small team of Technical professionals and vendors on Infrastructure related matters. There will be a need to collaborate with other IT Teams within the Department and the wider group organization. 

  • Work closely with other departments to proactively ensure Infrastructure capabilities are capable of handling emerging and future business requirements.

  • Recommend Technology upgrades, reviewing status and Requirements with application owners and Technology groups and defining the approach needed to meet requirements.

  • Conduct complex technical evaluations, design reviews and recommend proposed physical/logical architectures and designs as applicable. Leverage on Cloud Technologies with Cloud first as the guiding principle.

  • Provide Cloud computing guidance to ensure the best fit cloud solution for maximum efficiency, cost and business value.

  • Provide inputs to overall IT strategy formulation for IT infrastructure considering operations, resilience, disaster recovery and application execution within infrastructure. 

  • Evaluate and recommend necessary changes in performance tuning, infrastructure design and monitoring to maximize use of available infrastructure.

  • Provide guidance for filters, events, alerts, and dashboards and reporting in various monitoring tools to ensure end to end visibility 

  • Consult project engineers and managers to assure technology is suitably deployed and used to deliver applications along with technology solutions.

  • Identify and analyze existing Infrastructure solutions for weaknesses and recommending system improvements. Ensure all identified operational risks are tracked to resolution in a timely manner.

  • Determine critical processes for the successful resumption of business operations in the event of a disaster. Manage the testing and implementing when necessary, emergency procedures and disaster recovery plans. 

  • Apply effective risk controls to identify potential threats and minimize or remove a business impact.

  • Be integral part of Major Incident Management group and drive consistent execution of operation processes and tasks.

  • Design, build and implement standard Risk Assessments, Business Impact Analysis, and other Business Continuity tools and capabilities for digital transformation.

  • Drive and own Backup and Recovery Policy 

  • Identify the work and levels of services that can be supported by the infrastructure systems.

  • Review existing systems metrics and provide forecasts to management regarding systems requirements for optimal performance and monitor trends, risk and impact analysis forecasts.

  • Use behavioral change management techniques to maintain business continuity and risk awareness capabilities across groups within IT function as we transit into a digital organization.

  • Review the performance of individual team members and complete appraisals in accordance with the employee performance appraisal procedures and time schedules.


Education



  • First Degree in any related discipline preferably Computer Science or equivalent

  • Master's Degree in a relevant discipline is an added advantage

  • ITIL Manager Certificate is an added advantage

  • Certifications in Cloud and Infrastructure Technologies will be an added advantage

  • Fluent in English.


Experience:


9 - 17 years’ experience which includes:



  • Minimum of 3 years Manager track record in relevant sector/industry

  • 5+ years in IT related disciplines; specifically computer infrastructure environment 

  • Experience working in an enterprise Telecoms environment

  • Experience and Knowledge of various hardware platforms, Operating systems and applications 

  • Demonstrated experience working closely with, and across, multiple teams in a global organization; ability to build relationships both from a customer and technical point of view

  • Prior work experience across diverse cultures and geographies is advantageous.
