Vantegral Consulting is recruiting to fill in the position of a Data Modelling Specialist for our client, a venture-capital backed financial technology company that builds software to enable free and instant peer-to-peer cross-border payment in Africa and Europe.

Job Summary: The Data Modelling Specialist would join the data scientist team and would work with data architect to design and implement our data infrastructure. The candidate would also be responsible for creating and maintaining data models for our databases, developing scripts for data cleansing and developing tools to automate data entry.

Job Responsibilities

• Work with the business intelligence team to gather requirement for the database design and model


• Understand the data needs of the company or client


• Collaborate with the development team to design and build the database


• Engage the development team to design and build database model


• Determine the business needs for data reporting requirements


• Adjust access to the data and report as needed


• Work closely with the development team to implement data warehousing and reporting


• Understand the company’s data migration needs


• Help to implement the querying


• Help determine and manage data cleaning requirement


• Work proactively and independently to address project requirement and articulate issues challenges to reduce project delivery risks

Requirements:

• Must have a minimum of 7 years’ experience in the technology sector with a proven track record of successful achievement in the role


• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, data science information technology, data modelling or a similar field. Professional certifications in similar fields are also acceptable for individuals that transitioned.


• Experience building software components that has been delivered


• Familiarity with data modeling software.


• Knowledge of ER modelling, big data and physical data models


• Knowledge of Laravel, Wordpress, Drupal and spotify would be beneficial but not essential


• Strong SQL, data analysis and visualization design


• Understanding of Microsoft technologies


• Knowledge of mathematical and statistical foundation


• Excellent presentation, communication, and organizational skills


• Ability to work in a fast -paced environment


• Ability to work both independently and as a team


• Additional data certification is a plus
