Job Description



The Role



  • Reports directly to the Head Orthopaedic surgeon and the Clinical Service Manager.

  • The incumbent is responsible for capturing high quality radiological examination on all patients with the use of our X-ray machine.

  • The radiographer will also play a key role in ensuring compliance with established safety regulations and procedures when operating radiation equipment in order to prevent ill-exposure to radiation.


Responsibilities



  • Responsible for undertaking radiographic and imaging examination for patients.

  • Prepares patients for their procedures.

  • Ensure local rules and radiation protection measures are in place and observed by all staff.

  • Ensure all required X-ray and ultrasound Policies, Protocols, Procedures and Guidelines (PPPG’s) are placed inside and outside the radiology.

  • Maintain good hygiene of equipment and work areas.

  • Position the X-ray machine to get the clearest and most accurate image possible.

  • Evaluate patient’s medical condition and history to determine the most suitable radiographic technique to be used.

  • Interact with patients to offer them psychological support and address their concerns regarding an imaging procedure.

  • Responsible for operating complex radiological instruments/equipments such as, X-ray, ultrasound and other imaging devices.

  • Maintain proper records of patient’s information, ensuring confidentiality of sensitive information.

  • Explain to patients and their family the details of a procedure.

  • Correctly position patients prior to X-ray imaging in order to obtain high quality images.

  • Upload patient’s images and results on mediplus.

  • Regularly inspect diagnostic equipment to ensure they are functional and operate efficiently.

  • Ensure compliance with health and safety guidelines to minimize risk of exposure to radiation.

  • Assist orthopaedic surgeon during complex orthopaedic procedures/surgeries.


Qualifications



  • B.Sc in Radiography.

  • 1 - 3 years work experience.

  • Should possess a valid certificate from the Radiographers Registration Board of Nigeria (RRBN).

  • Knowledge of operating X-ray and ultrasound instruments.

  • Knowledge of X-ray and ultrasound safety aspects.

  • Should possess excellent interpersonal skills.

  • Good communication skills.

  • Participate in and provide support for CPD (Continual professional development).

  • Ability to work as a team.

  • Knowledge of Health and Safety issues.

  • Committed to quality improvement.


Special Conditions:



  • Employment is contingent on passing a medical screening conducted by the hospital

  • Employee will be subject to various testing including but not limited to drug and medical testing throughout the tenure of their employment

  • Knowledge of workflow processes.
