Leading all corporate legal processes such as mergers, compliance issues, transactions, partnerships, and lawsuits.
The successful candidate will have outstanding negotiation and communication skills, with sharp attention to detail.
Prepare the appropriate legal documents for trial or court proceedings.
Evaluate new business partnerships with vendors and subcontractors.
Represent the company in legal proceedings.
Design and oversee the company’s policy and position on legal matters.
Protect the company against legal risks and violations.
Examine the legal issues related to new products and services.
Negotiate deals on behalf of the company.
Guide management on regulatory and compliance issues to ensure compliance with legal regulations.
Research, anticipate and guard the firm against legal risks and violations.
Structure, draft and review reports and other legal documents.
Engaging and working closely with external legal counsel as and when required.
Requirements
Minimum Qualification: Degree
Proven experience as a lawyer or similar position.
Licensed to practice law from the Bar Association.
Proven background on commercial law (contract law, tax law, accounting, securities law, bankruptcy, intellectual property rights, licensing, zoning laws, etc.).
Excellent technical understanding of Nigerian law relating to corporate and commercial law, capital markets, corporate banking,corporate finance, properties etc.
Minimum of 5 years post call to bar experience.
Experience in a Corporate setting is an added advantage
