Job Description:



  • Attending to lawsuits, case management and liaising with external lawyers.

  • Preparing court processes and defending the company’s cases in court.

  • Preparing agreements between bet9ja and other parties.

  • Reviewing agreements between bet9ja and its various service providers.

  • Attending to petitions and complaints emanating from customers/punters through themselves, lawyers, and regulators like the SLB, NLRC and other State Regulators.

  • Responding to EFCC and police information requests that relate to fraud and other criminal activities perpetrated through our platform.

  • Attending EFCC invitations as they relate to the business.

  • Reviewing of governance codes as it is applicable to our industry.

  • Reviewing relevant Laws, Corporate Governance Codes and recommending necessary implementation guidelines.

  • Drafting and reviewing contracts, agreements, and internal policies to ensure that they are in compliance with relevant statutory requirements.

  • Monitoring progress of outstanding litigation and management of relationship with external lawyers.

  • Preparation and filing of daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports to regulatory authorities such as National Lottery Regulatory Authority, Lagos State Lotteries, Board, Nigerian Financial Intelligence Unit (NFIU), Special Control Unit against Money Laundering (SCUML) etc.

  • Providing internal governance policies and regularly monitoring compliance.

  • Representing the company in arbitration, mediation, negotiation, and meetings for the purpose of resolving disputes involving the organization or its subsidiaries. · Interacting with external solicitors to devise best strategies to settle all disputes involving the company. · Evaluating court processes to ensure timely resolution to reduce the litigations involving the company. This includes taking proactive steps on settlement of fresh court matters.

  • Ensuring prompt renewal of expatriate quotas and Combined Expatriate Residence Permit and Aliens Card (CERPAC) at the Ministry of Interior.

  • Ensuring monthly filing of expatriate reports at the Nigerian Immigration Service.

  • Super Agency Agreement/Matters - In charge of conducting investigation towards setting up disciplinary hearing with Inspections Department on agency disciplinary issues.


Job Specifications:



  • LLB Law qualification

  • Minimum 10 years post Call legal experience

  • Experience of working in a top Law Firm as well as corporate organizations

  • Working knowledge of legislation surrounding sports betting and lottery in Nigeria

  • Experienced and familiar with making Court/legal appearances

  • Experience in legal compliance is mandatory

  • Excellent Computer Skills

  • Excellent Communication and written Skills

  • Ability to multitask
