Our client, a leading Mortgage Bank is seeking to hire competent Credit Officers to facilitate lending by determining creditworthiness and completing documentation.

The ideal role holder will be responsible for creating loan applications, assessing client financial data, computing risk ratios, and should have a solid grasp of loan processes and customer service experience to succeed in this position.

Job Responsibilities

• Interviewing applicants to determine financial eligibility and feasibility of granting loans


• Review of credit requests to evaluate creditworthiness and risks


• Implementing and monitoring the effectiveness of credit programs


• Credit control and debt recovery.


• Preparing credit status reports.


• Mobilizing deposit liabilities


• Generating risk assets


• Penetrating target market and creating a new market for the Bank’s product


• Managing insurance portfolio (brokerage operations)


• Inspecting assets and visiting sites for adequate evaluation


• Monitoring financial markets to identify emerging risks and opportunities

Person Specification

• HND/ B.Sc. Degree in Banking and Finance, Economics or a related field


• Minimum of 3 - 4 years of proven work experience as a Credit Officer or similar role in the financial services sector.


• Membership of a recognised professional body is an added advantage


• Sound understanding of credit and credit practices


• Excellent verbal and written communication skills


• Proficient in the use of MS Office suite (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
