Job Summary



  • This position, reporting to the CEO is accountable for leading the Finance team in managing the Foundation's financial and accounting policies, systems and processes, tax and regulatory requirements, payroll systems and processes and Foundation controls, ongoing financial modeling, and annual business plan.

  • Provide leadership and coaching to the Finance Team.


Key Responsibilities

Grant Funds Management, Accounting, Payroll, Financial Systems and Financial Controls:



  • Responsible for the delivery of costs effective and efficient accounting and financial systems, policies, and processes that meet the current and future business requirements of the Foundation.

  • Oversee the external audit, review, and analyze results and recommend for approval the audited financial statements.

  • Prepare the financial section of the annual report.

  • Oversee the grant and cash management function, including banking relationships.

  • Ensure the Foundation complies with all internal policies and relevant regulations and ensures filings are completed in a timely manner.

  • Develop and oversee the internal review function to ensure that finance and operations controls and policies are complied with in the provincial and field offices.

  • Ensure effective follow-up processes are in place.

  • Manage the payroll function ensuring efficient systems, processes and controls.

  • Manage the financial system, ensuring maximum productivity and that it meets the needs of the business today and in the future.

  • Oversee the continuous improvement of accounting and financial processes and the development of the team with the goal to achieve best practices and optimal output.

  • Develop and oversee accounting policies and procedures to meet both current and future business models

  • Ensure the seamless and efficient use of financial management systems to drive enhanced business operations

  • Lead and manage all document retention requirements related to the finance function


Cash, Investment and Risk Management:



  • Responsible for the management of the Foundation's Insurance and Risk Management program

  • Oversee the professional indemnity annual insurance and other projects related liabilities renewal process and ensure appropriate coverage is always maintained

  • Ensure appropriate legal review of contracts and solicit external legal advice as required. Review financials of preferred vendors.

  • Manage ongoing banking relationships, cash management and other treasury-related activities for maximum efficiency

  • Develop org-wide and project(s) cash flow forecasting and maintain a long-term cash forecast Leadership

  • Develop Finance and Accounting team objectives and goals that are fully aligned with the foundation goals

  • Lead and coach the team to recruit and retain high-caliber staff

  • Provide coaching, guidance, and support, and set professional development plans to assist employees to reach their full potential through the Performance Management process.

  • Ensure the team delivers the highest standard of departmental, cross-departmental and cross-foundation teamwork and customer service

  • Ensure optimal deployment of resources to achieve business goals

  • Lead business investment decisions and support the Foundation make sound investments to grow the company portfolio/improve the financial position


Management Reporting:



  • Responsible for Financial Management Reporting for the Foundation Provide financial reports to the Board of Trustees.

  • Ensure financial management reporting tools and processes are in place to support the ongoing and future needs of the business

  • Develop, prepare and review monthly Management Reports

  • Present monthly and year-to-date financials with accompanying analysis of results

  • Develop regular reporting and analysis, including key metrics reports, and conduct ad hoc financial analysis as required.


Budgeting and Financial Modeling:



  • Oversee the preparation of RFPs budget for proposals to ensure compliance with donors’ templates and guidelines.

  • Design RFPs budgets template for the organization where there is none from a prospective donor.

  • Lead the annual business plan development and budgeting process

  • Lead the quarterly outlook process

  • Provide ongoing financial modeling and analysis expertise to business partners.

  • Lead the financial modeling and analysis to support the development of long-term strategic initiatives and business plans.


Qualifications

The following requirements are requisite for this position:



  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or any related field. A master’s degree is an added advantage.

  • Must be ACCA/ICAN certified.

  • 10 years of working knowledge in accounting and finance with at least 6 years of supervisory experience.

  • Sound knowledge compliance regulations for organizations working within the not-for-profit and for-profit sectors

  • Exceptional Interpersonal skills, a collaborative style, and the ability to communicate effectively at all levels

  • Demonstrated initiative and the ability to work effectively within time constraints

  • Knowledge of Financial and ERP systems

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office software

  • Experience with strategy development and implementation

  • Understanding and experience with re-engineering processes and large-scale systems change

  • Strong business acumen

  • Ability to lead complex projects through to an endpoint.
