Position:  Quality Management /Assurance Officer


Minimum Requirements:



  • Certificate of QMS training on ISO 15189:2012 and at least one year of cognate experience in a medical laboratory QMS job role.

  • Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized university with at least three years of experience.


Duties include and Responsibilities:


The Quality Management /Assurance  Officer is responsible for the overall quality management system according to ISO 15189:2012 standards and practice of DemyHealth laboratories, in collaboration with the Technical Supervisor and the Laboratory Director / CEO.


These include, but are not limited to:



  • Ensuring that the laboratory is enrolled in ISO 15189:2012 accreditation and participates in approved proficiency testing programs for the scope of tests performed.

  • Recommending and ensuring that quality control and quality assessment programs are established and maintained to assure the quality of laboratory services provided and to identify failures in quality as they occur.

  • Preparing and reviewing the quality manual, safety manual, SOPs, and job aids and training the laboratory personnel in their daily applications.

  • Conducting interviews and supervising the employment of competent and experienced personnel with skills to perform test procedures and report results accurately, proficiently, and promptly in compliance with the applicable regulations.

  • Ensure that laboratory personnel performs the test methods as required for accurate and reliable results and that testing systems and services developed and used for each investigation performed in the laboratory provide accurate and reliable results, and processes at the pre-analytic, analytic, and post-analytic phases of testing.

  • Ensuring that the physical and environmental conditions of the laboratory are appropriate for the testing performed and a safe environment in which employees are protected from physical, chemical, and biological hazards.

  • Ensuring that all proficiency testing reports received are reviewed by the appropriate staff to evaluate the laboratory's performance and identify areas that need corrective action, leading an approved corrective action plan, and, making sure the action plan is followed when any proficiency testing result is found to be unacceptable or unsatisfactory.

  • Ensuring that all necessary remedial actions are taken and documented whenever significant deviations from the laboratory's established performance characteristics are identified, and that patient test results are reported only when the system is functioning properly.

  • Providing consultation to the laboratory's clients on matters relating to the quality of the test results reported and their interpretation concerning specific patient conditions.

  • Providing mentorship and appropriate training to the laboratory personnel on QMS and biosafety standards and ensuring that all personnel have the appropriate education and/or experience before testing patients' specimens and can perform complex testing procedures reliably with little or no supervision.
