Job Description

This position's incumbent will manage and lead a team of people in allocating workload and managing the day-to-day operations in the Warri maintenance yard. It requires the job holder to co-ordinate resources and liaise with internal and external key contacts to ensure work is delivered on time and to a quality standard.


Job Duties and Responsibilities:



  • Responsible for optimum utilization of resources available for the maintenance yard in terms of machinery, manpower, utilities, consumables etc. for the various jobs.

  • Ensure that the activities of the yard are well coordinated to complete the jobs received within the allocated time frame and quality parameters.

  • Develop and implement a system to ensure regular maintenance service for the trucks and for breakdown related activities.

  • Coordinate operation resources and workshop staff for improved productivity ensure strict adherence

  • to all safety standard while working.

  • Raise productivity and efficiency of workshop services, by reducing complaints, rework orders, and breakdowns

  • Ensure that planning, scheduling, and unscheduled repairs are carried out efficiently and cost effectively.

  • Trains and assists Mechanics on methods for diagnosing and repairing vehicles and equipment.

  • Supervise, schedules, or assigns work to mechanics and other maintenance personnel.

  • Tests vehicles to troubleshoot problems and/or tests repairs to ensure proper and safe completion.

  • Prepares spare parts performance and researches best brands for use.


Requirements

Qualifications and other skill sets.



  • HND / B.Eng. in Mechanical Engineering (Specialization in Commercial Vehicles)

  • Minimum of 10 years strong Engineering experience with an established Commercial Vehicle Workshop (Trucks specifically)

  • Perfect knowledge of Auto Trucks.

  • Problem solving skill and team spirit.

  • Product knowledge & skills to handle technical problems, warranty issues.

  • Ability to guide & train others.

  • Good communication ability both verbally and in writing.

  • Computer skills: Microsoft Office Package
