Manage the import/export operations with local team;
- Monitor customs clearance operation on a daily basis
- Regulate with the business units and the LSP the needed requirements to clear the shipments
- Coordinate with the bank to get all documents needed for clearance, Form M, PAAR, L/C Letter of credit, etc.
- Coordinate with other departments in case of missing documents / information / tariff classification, etc.
- Keep tracker for all shipments
- Monitor customs clearance KPI
- Ensure proper archiving of the documents
- Perform duty and invoice verification (broker & freight forwarder)
Provide guidance/advice to the business units for all FT related topics;
- New business ideas/needs
- FTA possibilities
- Special import/export requirements
- Duty rates
- Special customs procedures, etc.
- Accountable for internal controls and audit requirements.
- Develop/Implement clearance tracking and cost monitoring tools.
- Define strategy to optimize lead-time & cost.
- Communicate with customs authorities.
- Coordinate audits by customs authorities.
- Coordinate broker tenders (incl. defining broker requirements).
- Support the business unit regarding SON requirements (Product Certificate).
- Management of legal local topics.
Qualifications
- Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration.
- Profound knowledge of customs regulations in Nigeria
- Practical experience in import/export customs clearance
- Good knowledge of consumer goods clearance (Power Tool, Automotive Parts, Camera & Fire products)
- Minimum 3-5 years practical experience
- Strong IT-Skills (e.g. MS Excel)
- Analytical thinking
- Knowledge/Experience in Lean Management and Lean Tools
- Autonomous, responsible, reliable, and self-motivated
- Entrepreneurial mind-set, communication skills, intercultural competency
- Fluent English
