Responsibilities



  • Build and maintain collaborative relationships with staff at CATALYST study sites (health facilities) who are responsible for quality improvement activities related to the research. Such staff may include clinicians and other study staff hired specifically to serve as technical advisors and coaches for quality improvement activities in CATALYST.

  • Coordination of quality improvement activities at CATALYST study sites in participating countries i.e., Kenya, Lesotho, South Africa, Uganda and Zimbabwe. These activities will include

    • coordinating regular meetings within countries and in the region during which study sites (health facilities) share results of and lessons from their quality improvement activities.

    • Tracking and reporting on progress of CATALYST sites’ QI activities as detailed in their workplans e.g., conduct of Plan-Do-Study-Act (PDSA) cycles, and Evidence-Based Co-Design (EBCD) sessions.



  • Working with quality improvement staff at study sites and country level, collate quality improvement data including run charts and coaching reports and availing these data to the CATALYST study team as requested and taking part in the analysis of QI data.

  • Facilitate dissemination of lessons learned in the QI collaborative across Jhpiego, collaborating partners within MOSAIC project and in the larger HIV scientific community by taking up a role in the development of QI briefs and scientific abstracts.

  • Mentor and support country-based staff in implementation of the CATALYST study and perform other study related duties to ensure CATALYST deliverables are met on time and within budget

  • Provide overarching HIV PrEP technical assistance to MOSAIC countries where Jhpiego has a leadership or co-leadership implementation role (Lesotho, Namibia, Nigeria), with an emphasis on provider training activities for current and new PrEP products, as well as other programming and policy activities, such as development/adaptation of clinical guidelines, standard operating procedures, and monitoring and evaluation frameworks

  • Other tasks as assigned


Required Qualifications



  • Advanced clinical degree (medical doctor, clinical officer or nurse)

  • Additional advanced degree in public health, health administration, international health or a related field preferred

  • 10+ years’ experience working in HIV programs, including 2+ years' experience with HIV pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP)

  • Experience conducting QI activities in health service delivery. Experience with QI in HIV and/or PrEP programs will be an added advantage

  • Commitment to serving all potential users of PrEP with dignity, respect and empathy

  • Experience in analysis and interpretation of qualitative data

  • Strong organizational skills

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English

  • Team player willing to provide substantial on-site support, including management of complex teams across organizations

  • Ability to work effectively with people from different countries, cultures and contexts

  • Experience with full suite of Office 365

  • Ability to travel up to 50%

  • Ability to work flexibly across time zones
