Assess and monitor security situations (i.e. threats, weather conditions) through coordination with other actors and secondary information, and determine appropriate security threat level at all times;
Submit a security update (situation analysis, actions taken, actions recommended) on a regular basis;
Ensuring protocols and procedures are in place in the event of a security incident. This must include clear actions for both guesthouse and office-based staff, during office and out-of-office hours, and include identification of evacuation routes, and roles and responsibilities of staff;
Support in the rolling out and enhanced understanding of these plans amongst all staff including all-staff briefings and individual briefings;
Monitoring staff movement including limiting or restricting movement on location and time, accounting for staff movements and providing updated overviews of daily movements activities;
Maintaining an overview of all visitors to the office, including contact information;
Checking on suitability of buildings including the office and field-site locations, including health and safety requirements of the office, such as fire extinguishers, first aid kits for both office / guesthouse, vehicles, and emergency exits. Ensure recommendations are implemented;
Manage day to day security including tracking of movements of staff and visitors and provide updated consolidate information to the senior management;
He /She is responsible for the day-to-day implementation of security measures. This can include updating security tools, developing and circulating security reports, tracking movements and checking security equipment such as CCTV etc;
Support in the collection of information and documentation for incident reports, which are to be submitted to the CD/SSCO within 24 hours of the incident;
Prepare for and execute as needed, various contingency plans as articulated in the approved safety & security management plan in the context of a humanitarian response project to cover among others.
Position Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Security Studies or Social Sciences;
At least 2 years of relevant work experience in a humanitarian organization;
Understanding of humanitarian safety and security practices and their application;
Capacity to organize & conduct trainings, workshops and briefings;
Have a wide network of security contacts and information sources;
Should be able to gather information on emerging events and trends quickly and accurately;
Knowledge of the political and security situation of FCT Abuja;
Experience in a humanitarian/NGO context;
Training of trainers skills;
Experience in working with multi-national staff;
Experience in dealing with safety and security threats in a private/non-profit organization;
Good supervision and reporting skills;
Good communication skills;
Ability to use technology hardware and software;
